How to Deep Clean Your Bathroom in 4 Easy Steps

Description

They say the cleaning of a house never really ends.

As inspiring as that thought is, (ahem), there are thankfully some ways that you can make it easier. Your bathroom is one of the most frequently used rooms in the house, so it’s no surprise that it needs regular cleaning – but when is the last time you did a deep clean? In just 4 easy steps, you can give your bathroom such an extensive clean that you’ll be able to put off daily bathroom cleaning for at least a week. Let’s get started!

4. Cleaning your tile grouting

If, like most bathrooms, you have tiling on the walls, this is a great place to start your deep clean. Believe it or not, grouting is one of the areas where mould and mildew builds up first. The reason is that the lines of grout are often set back into the wall, creating a nook for the grime to grow. You can prevent this build up with a simple trick: use a toothbrush! Naturally, an old one will be the best choice. The best cleaning agent to use in this case is pure bleach. This will kill all those pesky germs and keep your grouting clear for a long time.

3. A handy trick for cleaning your showerhead

If your showerhead often builds up either black grime or lime scale, it’s a good idea to give it a real clean. As part of your deep clean, we’ve got a handy tip for you. Simply remove the showerhead from the unit, then fill a sealed plastic bag with white vinegar (a sandwich bag will be ideal) and immerse the showerhead into it. Tie a rubber band around the neck of the showerhead, then leave it in there overnight. When you rinse it the next day, you’ll have a showerhead that’s as good as new!

2. Putting the sparkle back in your chrome

Chrome is one of the best materials for creating a premium-quality bathroom, but it can get grimy over time. There are a couple of solutions to this: firstly, you can use a chrome cleaner purchased from a shop. Alternatively (and bear with us here) you could actually use… Coca-Cola. That’s right: scrub a little Coke over your chrome fittings and you may just be amazed at how shiny they come up. If that sounds a little too wacky for you, you can also use baking soda to do the same job.

1. Give your bath a showroom shine

Now that most of your bathroom is looking ship-shape, it’s time to finish off with your bath. If you have a regular bath, there are plenty of great cleaning solutions – including either white vinegar or baking soda as mentioned above (but not at the same time!). On the other hand, if you have a whirlpool or spa bath, you may want to consider a quality whirlpool bath cleaner. Available in liquid or tablet form, these are the best way to keep your bath looking its best.
