If you have a disability, you may not have to pay VAT on certain bathroom, washroom, or lavatory installations or adaptations when the work is specifically designed to help you manage your condition. We can supply a form for you to complete and return allowing us to supply a bath free of VAT.

Here’s what qualifies:
New installations: If you need a new bathroom, washroom, or lavatory to accommodate your disability, you can install it without paying VAT.
Adaptations or extensions: Extending or modifying an existing bathroom, washroom, or lavatory is VAT-exempt if the changes address your disability-related needs.
Examples of qualifying work:
Replacing a bath with a shower or walk-in whirlpool bath if your disability makes it hard to get in and out of a traditional bath.
Adding a bathroom on the ground floor if your disability prevents you from reaching an upstairs facility.
Altering a bathroom to improve wheelchair access throughout the space.
What doesn’t qualify:
Installing a new bathroom or refitting, repairing, or redecorating an existing one as a general home improvement, unrelated to your disability, does not exempt you from VAT.
