With the weather finally showing signs of warming up ever so slightly, we think it’s safe to say that spring is on the way. And while many of us are excited to see life returning to the world around us, there’s one thing that might take the wind out of your sails – and that’s spring cleaning. While not essential by any means, it’s a solid idea to give your home a deep clean as winter passes – but it doesn’t have to be a headache. Here are our top tips to make spring cleaning less of a pain in 2018.
Tip #1: Prioritise the little things
One of the biggest reasons that spring cleaning seems scary is the sheer volume of things to do. In order to get your spring cleaning to-do list to a more manageable length, it’s a good idea to prioritise based on the size of the task. By tackling the smaller jobs (less than an hour) first, you can effectively make the remaining tasks seem less daunting.
Tip #2: Don’t neglect the plumbing (if you can help it)
Of course, when it comes to plumbing, it’s always best to stick to professional advice. That said, there are some parts of your bathroom you can clean all by yourself. One example is the pipework of your whirlpool or spa bath. You can use a simple whirlpool bath cleaning solution to clean and degrease the pipework of your bath, which will in turn extend the life of the bath – so everyone’s a winner!
Tip #3: Remember to look up!
One area that doesn’t seem to get its fair share of attention is the ceiling of the bathroom. Because this room is often filled with humidity, it’s actually very easy for dirt and grime to build up in the corners. Even things like mould can creep up if you’re not vigilant, so it’s a good idea to get in the corners of the ceiling during your spring cleaning – just to make sure!
Tip #4: Spruce up your storage
There’s always a fair bit of storage in any bathroom. Whether it’s cupboards full of creams, pastes, and sprays, or simple hampers for laundry and towels, they still need cleaning now and then. If you’ve ever looked inside your toothbrush holder, you’ll know what we mean! Spring cleaning is a good opportunity to clean your storage inside and out, and maybe even switch it for something new if the time is right.
Tip # 5: Remove anything you haven’t used
Here’s a tip that works in many areas of home living. If you find anything during your bathroom spring cleaning that you haven’t used for more than 6 months – you can probably chuck it. Unless it’s an item with a very specific (but rare) use, it’s unlikely you’ll use it again anytime soon, so don’t be afraid to start throwing things away. After all, clutter will only make spring cleaning tougher!
We hope the tips above help you whizz through your spring cleaning this year. And of course, if you really want to give your bathroom that showroom shine, you could always take a look at our ever-affordable whirlpool bath collection.
