Let’s face it: cleaning the bathroom isn’t the most exciting thing in the world. In fact, sometimes it’s a downright chore… quite literally. It’s for this precise reason that so many of us keep an eye out for handy tips or time-saving methods that can cut our time spent cleaning in half. If this sounds like you, we’ve got good news; in today’s post, we’ll share three top-secret tips to get your bathroom spotless even faster.
3. Cut through bathroom grease with washing-up liquid
Grease is one of those pesky problems that can crop up in almost every room of the house – including the bathroom. For example, over time, your bathtub can build up something resembling a tidemark that forms a circle around the inside of your tub. In reality, this is a result of grease from oils, soaps, gels, and so on that are deposited over time. Luckily, you can bust grease quickly and simply using – you guessed it – regular kitchen washing-up liquid. This stuff is designed to be tough on grease, so apply it just as you would in the kitchen and you may be surprised at how well it works.
2. Give cleaning products more time
Because many of us are in a rush these days, it’s very easy to simply spray a cleaning product on a bathroom surface then simply wipe it away. Unfortunately, this isn’t a great way to actually clean that surface. In fact, with such little contact time, it may not do anything to clean or sanitise at all. Instead, we’d recommend applying your cleaning product, leaving it in place, then heading to another surface to take care of that. Come back to the original one after a few minutes and it will have had time to work its magic. Just be sure to check the label before doing this, as some bleach products shouldn’t be left on too long.
1. Tackle rust head-on… with a lemon
Rust has to be public enemy number one when it comes to the bathroom. It may seem unavoidable when the environment is so humid and water is ever-present, but you can actually tackle rust retroactively. Of course, there are several rust removers out there, but not all of them are gentle or recommended for use in the bathroom. Instead, you can try that most humble of fruits: the lemon (and a little bit of salt… but no tequila). Simply apply a layer of salt to the rusted areas, then squeeze a layer of pure lemon juice directly onto the salt. Leave the concoction to get to work for a couple of hours, then come back and wipe it away. Depending on the age of the rust, you should now see a sparkling surface that looks as good as new.
